Shankar Ananda Maighane, born on August 1, 2006, in Brahmanwada, Washim, Maharashtra, currently practices in Gevrai, Beed, Maharashtra. Coming from a farming background, with both his father Ananda and mother Kavita working as farmers, Shankar found his passion for kabaddi at the age of 15. Introduced to the sport by his friend Nehal, Shankar quickly demonstrated his prowess as a raider, initially winning matches with ease. However, as competition grew tougher, he realized the importance of professional training to further enhance his skills, thus embarking on a journey to seek professional guidance. Specializing as a Left Raider, Shankar excels in executing bonus points, a skill that sets him apart on the kabaddi mat. Under the guidance of his coach Ketan Gaikwad at Sharda Academy in Gevrai, Beed, Shankar hones his abilities, aiming to reach new heights in the sport. Admiring the playing style and speed of Aslam Inamdar from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), Shankar draws inspiration from his favorite player, aspiring to emulate his success. Despite having reached only up to 10th standard in his education, Shankar's kabaddi career boasts notable highlights, including a thrilling final match in a local tournament where his decisive raid secured victory for his team against Jalgaon, earning a significant prize of 51,000 rupees. Beyond kabaddi, Shankar enjoys playing cricket locally, showcasing his versatility in sports.
