Why This Format?
- First round, team are getting a longer run without elimination, and are playing at least 16 matches in the round- more matches, more opportunities, more match fee, more game time, more time to market the tournament/teams
- Round 1- since the teams are split into 2 pools, making matches relevant as only 2 teams get eliminated out of the 6 and each match here is important for this round also for the next round- since there is carry forward points- so teams can not take any match lightly
- Incentive for teams to finish higher up to enhance chances of winning- finish on top of a pool- gives you a chance to directly play the final or directly qualify to play offs- and also get a good break before the final for the team qualifying to the final
- 4/6 go through so teams can still have chances to make it to the next round till end stage of this pool round- more interesting and relevant matches
- Carry forward points system from the round 1 ensures that all matches are important because there is no way to accurately predict who will qualify for the Super 6 round, and also incentive them for the previous round performance
- All matches of Play offs are knock outs- make the stakes higher for all matches
- Only 1 match in a day during play offs- ensure there is enough time to build up and promote the play off round well
- In the head to head round: this opens up rivalry factors where a team is playing the same team for 3 days- ensures good fight and healthy rivalry between the teams, helps the storytelling and marketing of the tournament - and 3 matches gives you the long run- even after a loss, you will still have a chance to make it to the final, whereas the other teams in play offs have to play all knockout matches
- In carry forward points, we are counting the matches and results of the top 2 teams as well, because if the teams beat the top teams, it should also be incentivised.
