  • Booster Points are applicable when:
    1. In Booster round- a bottom placed team (from challenger round) beat a top placed team (from Challenger round)
    2. In Booster round- a team winning against a team twice (in Challenger and Booster Round) in the tournament

Booster Points Scenarios:

  • In Round 2 some matches will have the booster points system
  • The following position scenarios are based on Challenger Round positions, not the position in Booster Round.
  • Scenarios:

    1. When teams in position 6, 7 and 8 beat the teams in 1, 2, 3 and 4th position teams in the round, they will get 2 booster points over and above the match points, whereas the losing team will lose 2 points from their current points in the points table.
    2. In the matches between teams of 4th and 5th position, if the 5th place team beats the 4th place team, then the 5th place team will get 1 booster point over and above their match points, whereas the 4th place team will lose 1 point from their current points from the points table.
    3. If a team beats the opposite team twice in the tournament (including booster and challenger round) : Double header, the winning team will get 1 booster points over and above the match points, whereas the losing team will lose 1 point from their current points in the points table.
    4. If any of the matches in a double header ends in tie, the match will not be eligible for any booster points. Neither any team gets any booster points nor does any team loses any booster points.
    5. In the cross pool matches between top teams (Top 1 or 2 of Pool A vs Top 1 or 2 of Pool B) or bottom teams (7th and 8th Position teams in Pool A vs 7th and 8th position of Pool B),neither any team gets any booster points nor does any team loses any booster points.

Examples of Booster Points:

Let's say the teams in Booster Bound are : A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 (The teams with positions 1-8 in the Challenger Pool A round) and B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7, B8 (The teams with positions 1-8 in the Challenger Pool B round):
  • If A2 loses to B7, then A2 will lose 2 points from their points table and B7 will get 2 points additional to the points obtained by winning from the match, as the bottom team beats the top team. (Scenario 1)
  • If A1 beats B8, then both teams won't get or lose any additional points apart from the points obtained by winning from the match, as the bottom team lost against the top team.(Scenario 1)
  • If B5 beats A4, then B5 will get 1 point additional to the points obtained by winning from the match and A4 will lose 1 point from their points table. (Scenario 2)
  • In a game between A1 and A2 in the Challenger Round- assume A1 wins, when A1 faces A2 in Booster Round, if A1 wins- A1 will get 1 additional point over and above to the points obtained by winning from the match, and A2 will lose one point from the match
  • If A2 loses to B7 by 8 points, then A2 will lose 2 points from their points table and B7 will get 6 points from the match and also additional 2 points by winning the match- so total 8 points from the match, as the bottom team beats the top team. (Scenario 1)
  • In a game between A3 and A4 in the Challenger Round, assume the match ends in tie, then the match between them in Booster Round will not be eligible for Booster Points. Neither any team gets booster points nor does any team lose any booster points. Only the match points will be awarded. (Scenario 4)
  • In a game between A1 and A2 in the Challenger Round- assume A1 wins, when A1 faces A2 in Booster Round, if the match ends in tie, then no bonus points will be available in the match.
