Sayan Gavkhadkar

Sayan Shankar Gavkhadkar, born on August 13, 2003, in Kumbhave, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, currently resides in the same locality. Growing up in a supportive family environment, with his father Shankar Narayan Gavkhadkar working as a laborer and his mother Sunita managing the household, Sayan found inspiration in the sport of kabaddi at a young age. Encouraged by his family and influenced by the senior players in his school, Sayan began his kabaddi journey in the 7th standard, honing his skills on the playgrounds of Kumbhave School in Ratnagiri. Operating primarily as a versatile Left-Right Raider, Sayan has developed a repertoire of raiding techniques, excelling in bonus points, toe touches, and hand touches. Under the mentorship of his coaches, starting with Amol Mandavkar and continuing with Yogesh Kashte, Sayan has sharpened his kabaddi prowess, striving for excellence with each practice session. Admiring the raiding skills and professionalism of Indian kabaddi player Pankaj Mohite, Sayan aspires to emulate his hero's success on the kabaddi mat. Despite not having significant career highlights yet, Sayan cherishes his selection in the University Games of 2023, representing Sindhu Durga University. Beyond kabaddi, Sayan enjoys playing volleyball locally, showcasing his passion for sports beyond the kabaddi arena. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Sayan harbors dreams of competing in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), aiming to make a mark on the professional kabaddi stage. With his dedication, skills, and unwavering determination, Sayan Shankar Gavkhadkar endeavors to carve out a successful career in kabaddi, fueled by his love for the sport and aspirations for future glory in the PKL.
