R Viveka Ravichandran

Born on June 11, 1999, in the quaint town of Kondagai, Sivagangai, R. Viveka is a seasoned left raider representing the Palani Tuskers in the JSG Women's Yuva Kabaddi Series 2024. Hailing from a humble background, Viveka's journey in kabaddi is marked by her dedication, a unique set of skills, and unwavering familial support. Viveka's father, A. Ravichandran, makes a living as a hardworking farmer, while her mother, R. Lalitha, manages their home with love and care. The bond of sisterhood is strong in the Viveka family, with an elder sister, Vinitha, and two younger sisters, Vishali and Roobia, who also shares Viveka's passion for kabaddi, playing at the college level. Introduced to the sport in the 10th standard, Viveka's father enrolled her in kabaddi, recognizing her potential. Under the guidance of coaches like Augstin from school to college and Nathiya in the workplace, Viveka developed a distinctive skill set, with her Scorpion Kick becoming a trademark move on the kabaddi mat. Viveka's practice sessions have taken her from the courts of Kalacement in Madurai to the prestigious Tamil Nadu Police team, where she continues to hone her craft. Her favorite player, Naveen Kumar, stands out for his exceptional skill and speed, traits that Viveka admires and seeks to emulate in her own gameplay. The spirited raider has left her mark at various levels, representing in school, college, district, state, and national competitions. Notably, she showcased her prowess in the All India Police Tournament as part of the Tamil Nadu team, securing bronze in both 2022 and 2023. Viveka's standout performance in the 2023 tournament, where she scored an impressive 4+1 in a single raid, remains a cherished highlight in her kabaddi journey. Currently working in the police force with a BA in Economics, Viveka aspires to climb the ranks and receive promotions within the police department. Beyond the kabaddi mat, she finds joy in volleyball, showcasing her versatility in the realm of sports.
