Sankar Sekar, born on November 5, 2002, is from Salem, Tamil Nadu, where he currently resides. Unfortunately, his father, Sekar, has passed away, and his mother, Jaimarry, works as a daily wage worker. Sankar has two elder brothers named Prabhakar and Prashant, but none of them play kabaddi. Sankar started playing kabaddi at the age of 15, initially for fun with kids in his neighborhood before transitioning to serious training. His original playing position is as a Left Cover Defender, and his best skill is the Thigh Hold. He receives coaching from Elavarasan, who is the coach at Samy Academy, and practices at the 7 Lions club in Salem. Fazel Atrachalli is Sankar's favorite kabaddi player, primarily for his exceptional tackling skills. Sankar has represented his team in various tournaments, including the YKS Winter Edition'23 for Palani Tuskers, where he showcased his talent and won the "Kabaddi Ka Kamaal" award. He has also participated in the Junior State tournament in Mayaladudurai in 2023, winning the championship, and the Senior State tournament in Chengalpattu in the same year. Additionally, he represented his university in the South Zone University tournament held in Mangalore in 2019. Apart from kabaddi, Sankar enjoys playing volleyball, and he is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, in his second year. His aspiration is to play for Team India in kabaddi in the future.
