Johny Kumar, born on July 10, 2003, in the bustling town of Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir, is a rising star in the world of kabaddi. Raised by his father, Tarsem Lal, a hardworking farmer, and his mother, Ritu Devi, a caring homemaker, Johny found his passion for kabaddi at just 12 years old, while playing at school. His older brother, Raman Kumar, may not share his love for the sport, but that didn't deter Johny from charting his own exciting path. Johny’s journey took a pivotal turn under the guidance of his coach, Jimmy Manhas, who has mentored him since childhood. Practicing diligently at the MA Stadium in Jammu, Johny has developed remarkable skills as a Right Cover Defender. He especially shines in executing techniques like the Dubki and thigh hold, showcasing his dedication to mastering the game. His efforts have not gone unnoticed; Johny has already clinched victories at the state level and richly enjoyed his participation in the YKS Winter Edition 2023 held in Pondicherry. Inspired by the legendary Pardeep Narwal, Johny dreams of representing his country in the Asian Games. When he's not on the kabaddi mat, you might find him enjoying a game of cricket, always eager to embrace new challenges and grow in the sport he loves.
