A. Girivelan

In the YKS TN Clubs 2024 tournament, representing SRM University, we have Girivelan. Born on October 11, 2005, in Madukarai, Pondicherry (now Puducherry), Girivelan currently resides in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father, Angappan, and mother, Vasuki, work as coolies to support the family. He has two elder sisters, Monisha and Trisha, and a younger brother named Akash. Girivelan's interest in kabaddi sparked at the age of 11, largely influenced by his father's proficiency in the sport. He looks up to his father, admiring his speed, right kick, and overall style of play. Girivelan's siblings also share his passion for kabaddi, with his sister Trisha having represented at the junior state level and his younger brother Akash achieving success at the SGFI Nationals. As a right raider, Girivelan excels in various skills such as toe touch, hand touch, and bonus points. He receives coaching from Satish at school and Vetri at college, and he practices at the Madukarai Sports Club. Girivelan has represented in various tournaments, including Senior State, SGFI Nationals, Sub-Junior Nationals, Junior Nationals, Inter School competitions, and the YKS 2023 tournament. Among his career highlights are his performances at the Sub-Junior and Junior Nationals. Currently pursuing a college graduation degree in BA Sociology, Girivelan aspires to secure a job in the Income Tax department of the Indian Railways (ICF). He holds immense respect and admiration for his father, who serves as a significant source of inspiration in his kabaddi journey.
