Born on October 30, 2005, in the picturesque town of Pondicherry, A Balabharathi’s journey into the world of kabaddi is both inspiring and relatable. Growing up in a supportive family, Balabharathi was nurtured by his mother, Jayathilakam, and his father, K Ambedkar, who works as an electrician. With two brothers who share his passion for the sport, the lively atmosphere at home fostered his interest in kabaddi from an early age, especially inspired by his elder brother, Jana. Balabharathi’s dedication to the sport blossomed when he began training under coach Malayan Selvam at the Sports Authority of India in Pondicherry at just 15 years old. As a Right Corner Defender, he has developed impressive skills, particularly excelling in techniques like the Chain Tackle and the Ankle Hold, which highlight his agility and strategic mindset on the mat. One of the highlights of his young career was representing Pondicherry in the Junior Nationals 2024. Although he didn’t bring home a medal, the experience fueled his ambition to play at a higher level. Currently, in his third year of pursuing a Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports, he dreams of wearing the national jersey and proudly playing for India one day. With determination and talent, Balabharathi is undoubtedly a rising star to watch in the kabaddi arena.
