Vasanth Murugan

In the YKS TN Clubs 2024 tournament, representing Vels University is Vasanth, born on November 13, 2000, in Neelangarai, Tamil Nadu. Currently residing in Chinnandikuppam, he hails from a family rooted in fishing, with his father, S Murugan, working as a fisherman, and his mother, M Amudha, as a fish vendor. Vasanth has a younger sister named Keerthika, who does not share his interest in Kabaddi. Vasanth's journey in Kabaddi began at the age of 17, starting as a Right Raider. He excels in toe touches and bonus points, considering them his favorite skills. Remarkably, his father, S Murugan, serves as his coach, guiding him at the Alaiosai Sports Club in Chinnandikuppam. Inspired by the agility and hand touches of Ajay Thakur, Vasanth admires his flexibility on the mat. Throughout his career, Vasanth has represented his university in prestigious competitions such as the All India Inter University games, where his team secured a silver medal in 2023. Additionally, he showcased his talents at the Khelo India University games in 2022 and 2023. Notably, at the All India University games, Vasanth played a crucial role as a sole raider for his team, contributing to their silver medal victory. Apart from Kabaddi, Vasanth exhibits prowess in athletics, particularly excelling in events like the 400m, 400 Hurdles, and 1500m. Currently pursuing a BA in Economics with aspirations to pursue an MA in the same field, Vasanth harbors a dream of joining the Tamil Nadu Police force in the future. Vasanth's dedication to Kabaddi, coupled with his academic pursuits and aspirations for public service, reflect his multifaceted personality and commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
