Abikumar M Suresh Kumar

Born on February 5, 2004, in the picturesque town of Kanyakumari, Abikumar S A’s journey into kabaddi is as vibrant as the coastal scenery of his hometown. He grew up in a nurturing environment, with his father, M. Suresh Kumar, working as a mechanic and his mother, Ajithalakshmi, managing their household gracefully. Family plays a huge role in Abikumar's life, especially with his older brother, Aashik, who shares his passion for kabaddi. Together, they’ve forged a special bond that transcends sibling ties, as they encourage each other’s dreams in the sport. Abikumar's love for kabaddi sparked at just 15 years old when he watched seasoned players showcase their skills. His enthusiasm propelled him to train under Coach Vasu at West Prest University in Tanjore. As a Right Corner Defender, he has developed an impressive arsenal of skills, with the Ankle Hold becoming his signature move. Recently, he represented Tamil Nadu in the Junior Nationals in 2023, an experience that, while medal-less, enriched his passion and competitive spirit. Balancing his kabaddi journey with his studies in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Abikumar aspires to join the police force one day. He's excited about a future where he can harmonize his love for kabaddi with a meaningful career, fueled by the strong values his family instilled in him.
