Ajay Muthaiya

M. Ajay, born on July 8, 2002, in Kannanur, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is a talented kabaddi player known for his prowess as a Left Cover Defender. Growing up in Kannanur, Madurai, Ajay was immersed in the rich kabaddi culture of his village, where everyone, including his late father, Muthaiya P, participated in local tournaments. At the age of 15, Ajay began his kabaddi journey, inspired by his father's legacy and the vibrant kabaddi scene in his village. His dedication and passion for the sport led him to excel in school-level competitions, where he honed his skills under the guidance of coaches Anandakrishnan and Puviyarasan at Vels University. Ajay's favorite skill, the Thigh Hold, reflects his tenacity and ability to immobilize opponents with precision. He draws inspiration from pro kabaddi player Surendar Nada, particularly admiring Nada's expertise in ankle holds. In addition to kabaddi, Ajay enjoys playing volleyball, football, and cricket, showcasing his versatility in sports. Despite his busy schedule, Ajay is currently pursuing a BBA degree, now in his second year, at Vels University. Ajay's career highlights include leading his team to the pre-quarterfinals against Goa in the Junior Nationals 2019-2020, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and game-changing plays. With aspirations of securing a government job, Ajay continues to strive for excellence both on and off the kabaddi mat, embodying the spirit of determination and resilience.
