Somnath Bedke

Somnath Sarjerao Bedake, born on January 12, 2005, in Shevgaon, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, embodies the spirit of kabaddi with his remarkable skills and dedication to the sport. Currently residing in Kokana, Ahmednagar, Somnath is the son of Sarjerao Bedake, a hardworking farmer, and Mangal, a dedicated homemaker. Growing up with his elder sister, Tara, Somnath developed a passion for kabaddi at a young age, beginning his journey in the sport eight years ago by engaging in casual matches in his village. Specializing as a Right Cover Defender, Somnath demonstrates exceptional proficiency in executing the thigh hold and dash maneuvers, showcasing his defensive prowess and agility on the kabaddi court. Under the guidance of coaches Mukesh Jadhav and Srikanth Jadhav at Trimurti College, Somnath refines his skills and techniques to excel in his chosen position. Somnath draws inspiration from renowned kabaddi players such as Aslam Inamdar and Srikanth Jadhav, both of whom have left a significant impact on his journey. While he admires Aslam Inamdar for his exceptional raiding skills, he holds Srikanth Jadhav in high regard as his coach and mentor. Despite limited representations at higher levels, Somnath has showcased his talent in industry tournaments, notably representing BMC in a match against Pune in 2024. Although his team faced defeat by a narrow margin of two points, Somnath's performance underscored his potential as a formidable kabaddi player. Currently pursuing his college graduation degree in Bachelor of Arts (BA), Somnath remains steadfast in his aspiration to compete in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), aiming to showcase his skills on a national stage and make significant contributions to the sport. With unwavering determination and a commitment to continuous improvement, Somnath Bedake is poised to realize his dreams and leave a lasting legacy in the world of kabaddi.
