Meet Amit Sing Thakur, a determined young athlete born on May 10, 2003, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Growing up in a supportive household with his father Aman Singh Thakur and mother Rajkumari Thakur, who has a government job, Amit was inspired to embrace kabaddi at the age of 15. His uncle, Vinod, a former player for Bengal and U Mumba, ignited his passion for the sport. Amit currently resides in Amravati, Maharashtra, where he trains diligently at the Midline Academy in Karjat under the guidance of coach Aniket Mhatre. As a Right Corner Defender, Amit has honed his skills, particularly excelling in running chains—a skill that has become his favorite. He also admires Vishal Mane for his exceptional cover chain, often drawing inspiration from his techniques. Despite not having the chance to represent India yet, Amit has made his mark by participating in junior nationals, where he received a memorable Thigh Five. He comes from a close-knit family with an elder brother, Ankesh, who previously played kabaddi and an elder sister, Swati, and they all share a love for sports. Outside of kabaddi, Amit enjoys cricket and hockey, balancing his time between sports and education. He aims to achieve his dream of representing India in kabaddi, driven by his passion and hard work. With his dedication and talent, there's no doubt that Amit Sing Thakur is on a path to success in the sport he loves.
