Vignesh Varan G was born on May 6, 2001, in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Currently, he resides in Meyakadipatti, Pudukkottai. His father, Ganesan, works as a farmer, and his mother, Lata, is a homemaker. He has two younger sisters named Vijayalakshmi and Vijayadharshini, neither of whom plays kabaddi. Vignesh's journey in kabaddi began at the age of 14 when he used to play casually in his village. Later, he decided to participate in trials conducted by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), where he was selected and began his professional kabaddi career. He primarily plays as a Right Raider and excels in the Handtouch skill. His coaches, Nallasivam and Anand Krishnan, guide his training sessions at the Katakuddi Sports Club. Vignesh admires Monu Goyat for his kabaddi skills. Aside from kabaddi, Vignesh enjoys playing basketball, which he used to play during his school days. In terms of education, Vignesh has completed his schooling up to the 12th standard. He has represented his school and state in various kabaddi competitions, including the Junior Nationals in 2019, where his team won the Bronze medal. One of his career highlights includes winning a crucial match against Goa with a Golden raid during the Junior Nationals. Looking ahead, Vignesh aspires to either pursue farming or secure a job in the future. His journey from playing for leisure in his village to becoming a professional kabaddi player reflects his passion and dedication to the sport.
