Sumitkumar Sureshkumar Pandey, born on March 5, 2004, in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, has come a long way since his childhood. His journey took a pivotal turn when his father, a dedicated driver, moved the family to Goa, where Sumit found his new home in Panjim. With three siblings, including two younger sisters, Sumit has always been a guiding figure in their lives, balancing family responsibilities alongside his burgeoning passion for kabaddi. Starting his athletic journey at the age of 15, Sumit was initially more fond of sports than academics. His interest in kabaddi blossomed at school, and thanks to his supportive coach, Sunil Sawarde, he developed skills that would define him as a player. Among his favorite moves are the Running Hand Touch and the Toe Touch. Inspired by the calm and strategic play of kabaddi greats like Anup Kumar and Pardeep Narwal, he strives to mirror their composure on the mat. Despite his school struggling in previous tournaments, Sumit's hard work paid off as he lost 10 kilograms and led Viscon High School to victories in both under-14 and under-17 categories. Now pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree, Sumit dreams of entering the Pro Kabaddi League and one day wearing the national jersey. With a heart full of dreams and a tireless spirit, he looks forward to making his mark in the kabaddi world.
