Sambhaji Wabale, born on May 1, 2001, in Shrirampur, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, currently residing in Dahigaonne, Ahemdnagar, epitomizes dedication and talent in the sport of kabaddi. With a family background deeply rooted in the game, as his father, Shivaji, is a PT teacher and a former kabaddi player himself, Sambhaji's journey into kabaddi began at a young age of the 6th class. Starting as a Right Cover Defender, Sambhaji has mastered the art of chain tackling, making him a formidable force on the kabaddi mat. Under the mentorship of his father and coach Aniket Mhatre at the Midline Academy in Raigad, Sambhaji has honed his skills and embraced the challenges of the sport. Sambhaji's achievements speak volumes about his talent and dedication. Representing his district and state in various tournaments, including Nationals, Khelo India Youth Games, and Senior State Championships where he clinched gold in 2023, Sambhaji has left an indelible mark on the kabaddi landscape. His standout performance in the Senior State 2023 final match, where he emerged as one of the top defenders, leading his team to victory after a 69-year drought, remains a cherished moment in his career. Outside of kabaddi, Sambhaji's favorite player is Sunil Kumar, whom he admires for his exceptional chain tackling and leadership skills.
