Padmaprasath Poiyamozhi, popularly known as "Bavi," was born on May 3, 2002, in Ullikkottai, Tamil Nadu. Raised in an agricultural family, with his father Poiyamozhi—a farmer, former President of Ullikkottai village, and a staunch supporter of sports—and his mother Kayalvizhi, a homemaker, Bavi grew up in an environment that valued hard work and dedication. His elder brother, Baladhaneshwar, is the captain of the Indian Basketball Team, showcasing the family's athletic prowess. Bavi’s sports journey began with athletics, where he excelled at the national level, earning junior national medals in athletics and shotput. He also made a name for himself in boxing, securing three state-level gold medals. At just 18, his passion for kabaddi was ignited by watching local heroes being celebrated in his village. Inspired, he secretly began playing kabaddi, hiding his new pursuit from his parents. It wasn’t until his victories brought trophies and the occasional injury home that his parents discovered his talent and passion. Today, Bavi is a promising all-rounder in kabaddi, specializing as a Left Cover Defender and Right Raider. Known for his precise bonus skills, he credits his success to rigorous practice and his coach, Aravind Raja. Beyond kabaddi, he is deeply committed to nurturing future athletes as the owner and operator of the Sports Club Ullikkottai. Adding to his accomplishments, Bavi is the Sports Development Wing DMK Secretary for Thiruvarur. His father’s unwavering support for athletes—sponsoring jerseys, prize money, and tournaments in the village—has left an indelible mark on his approach to sports and community development. With aspirations to compete in the Pro Kabaddi League and represent Team India, Bavi continues to inspire his village and beyond with his dedication, resilience, and vision for empowering athletes.
