R. Vijayakumar was born on April 3, 2005, in the vibrant city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu. He grew up in a loving yet humble household, with his father, P. Rajangam, working as a laborer and his mother, Panchavarnam, taking care of their home. Being the middle child among three brothers, he carved his path in kabaddi while Ramkumar, the eldest, and Gukan Kumar, the youngest, chose different interests. Despite their different pursuits, his family has always been his strong support system. Vijayakumar's journey into kabaddi began at the tender age of 11, inspired by his uncle who not only played the sport but also served in the army. This spark ignited a profound passion for the game that has continued to grow. Currently residing at the SAI training center in Pondicherry, he trains diligently under the guidance of coach Pramod Kumar. As a Left Corner Defender, he has particularly mastered the thigh hold, which has become his signature move. Aiming for success, Vijayakumar draws inspiration from Ankush Rathee, whom he admires for his skills and physique. As he sets his sights on competing in the Senior Nationals and ultimately dreams of making his mark in the Pro Kabaddi League, the future looks promising for this ambitious young player. His dedication and love for kabaddi reflect his commitment to achieving greatness on the larger stage.
