Born on July 24, 2001, he grew up in a family that instilled values of hard work and dedication. His father, Dilbar Singh, serves in the Indian Army, while his mother, Mintu, is a caring housewife. Ashish shares a close bond with his younger brother, Athul, who is also keen on kabaddi, making their household a lively hub of athletic encouragement. Ashish discovered his love for kabaddi at just 13 years old after watching local players in his village. Inspired by their passion and skill, he decided to pursue the sport seriously. With his remarkable talent as a Left Corner Defender, he has honed impressive skills, particularly his signature move: the Thigh Hold. Under the guidance of his childhood coach, Vikas, he practices diligently at the local stadium. His journey has seen him compete on significant stages, including the Senior Nationals where he recently clinched a gold medal in 2023.
