In the small yet vibrant Ramabahal village of Sundargarh, Odisha, a young talent named Amrit Lakra was born on April 3, 2004. Growing up in a nurturing household with his father, who works as a railway engineer, and his mother, who lovingly manages the home, Amrit found himself inspired by the energy around him. Along with his younger sister Anushka, who is currently in college, the family has always supported each other’s dreams. Amrit discovered his passion for kabaddi at the age of 20, noticing how much fun his friends had while they played. There was something about the thrilling nature of the sport that drew him in, and soon he was immersed in it. With the guidance of his dedicated coach Sukurutanty in Rourkela, who offered free coaching, Amrit honed his skills, often showcasing his incredible jumping ability and mastering techniques like the toe touch. While he has yet to make a mark on larger platforms like Yuva or the Pro Kabaddi League, his performance in district championships left a lasting impression, even attracting fans eager for a selfie. Amrit looks up to players like Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat, dreaming of playing at the national and international levels. His love for hockey, which he played for four years, speaks to his competitive spirit. Committed to progress, he aims to excel and make his mark in Kabaddi, embodying the hopes of his supportive community.
