R Balamurugan

Balamurugan Raja Pandiyan hails from Kundrakudi, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, where he was born on July 29, 2001. Raised in a close-knit family, he is the son of Raja Pandiyan, a skilled tailor, and Kaveri, a dedicated homemaker. Balamurugan grew up alongside his elder brother, Prakash. Discovering his passion for Kabaddi at the age of 12, Balamurugan embarked on his journey in the sport when he was selected for his school Kabaddi team. His innate talent as a Right Corner Defender soon became evident as he honed his skills, specializing in techniques like the ankle hold and chain tackle. Under the guidance of his first Kabaddi coach, Kannan, Balamurugan trained diligently at RR Traders Club, Pudukottai, striving to emulate his favorite player, Kanagu, a respected defender known for his leadership qualities. Despite his love for Kabaddi, Balamurugan also harbors a fondness for cricket, nurtured since childhood. His educational journey led him to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, which he completed in 2022. While in college, he proudly represented his institution in the South Zone Kabaddi competitions. Looking ahead, Balamurugan aspires to compete in the Pro Kabaddi League, with dreams of donning the jersey of his favorite team, the Patna Pirates. Additionally, he hopes to serve his community by joining the Tamil Nadu Police force, leveraging his Kabaddi prowess for a noble cause.
