Boopathi K

K. Boopathi, born on April 25, 2004, is from Srivilliputhur, Tamil Nadu, where he currently resides. His father, S. Kasiraja, works as a daily wage worker, and his mother, Panchavaranam, takes care of the household. Boopathi has an elder brother named Hariharan, who also plays Kabaddi. Boopathi's journey in Kabaddi started at the age of 17, transitioning from being a handball player in school to playing Kabaddi with friends during the lockdown, which sparked his interest in the sport. He primarily plays as a Left Raider and specializes in the Scorpion kick (back kick). His first Kabaddi coach, Ravichandran, played a significant role in shaping his skills and instilling the importance of hard work and determination. Boopathi practices at AZ club Alathankarai and admires Aslam Inamdar for his speed, agility, and stylish play on the field. Apart from Kabaddi, Boopathi's favorite sport is handball, which he has been interested in since his school days. He has represented his district in the Junior District Championship and participated in the Isha Kabaddi Tournament. Boopathi's career highlights include being awarded the Best Player in the Isha Federation Cup, where his performance, including scoring bonus points and securing three crucial points as the last man, turned the match in his team's favor. He also contributed to his team's victory in the District Junior Championship. Currently pursuing a BA in English, 2nd year, Boopathi aspires to represent India in Kabaddi and secure a government job in the future, reflecting his dedication to both sports and his career goals.
