Pavankumar Chavan

Pawankumar Sanjay Chavan, born on April 3, 2004, hails from Mahud, Solapur District, Maharashtra, and currently resides in Pusegaon, Satara. His father, Sanjay Chavan, works as a farmer, while his mother, Usha Chavan, manages their household. Pawankumar has an elder sister, Vaishnavi, who used to play kabaddi before her marriage, igniting Pawankumar's passion for the sport from a young age. Starting his kabaddi journey at the tender age of 8, Pawankumar was drawn to the game by the enthusiasm of those around him. As an all-rounder, he excels in both defensive and offensive roles, specializing in the ankle hold technique. Under the mentorship of Coach Arun Madane at the Shree Sevagiri Sports Academy in Pusegaon, Pawankumar hones his skills, drawing inspiration from the agile and strategically astute Naveen Kumar, particularly admiring his speed and proficiency in bonus points. Pawankumar's accolades include participating in various championships, such as the Khelo India Trials in Balewadi in 2020 and the Junior State Championships in Pune and Kumargadh, Thane, in 2022 and 2023, respectively. A standout moment in his career was winning first place in the Under-14 School Games in Kidgaon, showcasing his talent and determination at a young age. Aside from kabaddi, Pawankumar also engages in athletics and possesses a keen interest in thigh hold techniques. Currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree, he harbors ambitions of competing in the Pro Kabaddi League and representing Team India, fueled by his unwavering dedication and passion for the sport.
