Yash Sitaram Nikam, born on October 20, 2002, in Katawadi, Satara, Maharashtra, epitomizes the passion and dedication of a true sportsman. Hailing from Satara, where mud games like wrestling and kabaddi reign supreme, Yash was drawn to the thrill of sports from a young age. Raised in a family where craftsmanship and tradition intertwine, with his father, Sitaram, overseeing a workshop crafting Ganpati idols since 2006, Yash inherited a spirit of creativity and diligence. At the age of 12, fueled by his innate love for sports and inspired by the vibrant sporting culture of his village, Yash embarked on his kabaddi journey. As a left-right raider, he quickly honed his skills, with a penchant for executing precise toe touches, a move that sets him apart on the kabaddi mat. Under the guidance of his coach, Hanamant Gorpade, at Shree Shivaji Uday Mandal Satara, Yash continues to refine his techniques and strategies. Yash's dedication and talent have earned him recognition on various platforms, including representations at the Junior State Championships in Pune in 2022 and the Sub Junior Championships in Nanded in 2017. Notably, during the State Matches in Satara in 2022, Yash's stellar performance earned him the coveted title of Best Raider of the Day, propelling him into the Junior State team for Pune. Beyond the kabaddi arena, Yash finds solace in cricket, showcasing his versatility as a sports enthusiast. Despite his commitment to kabaddi, he remains deeply rooted in his education, currently pursuing his third year of B.Comm. Looking ahead, Yash aspires to serve his nation through sports, harboring dreams of securing a position in the Indian Army or Police force, leveraging his sporting prowess as a pathway to success.
