Riyaj Shaikh

Riyaj Shaikh, born on January 21, 2006, in Kuslamb, Beed, Maharashtra, has emerged as a promising kabaddi talent from the region. Son of Sultan, a chef, and Baby, a dedicated homemaker, Riyaj grew up surrounded by the love and support of his family, including his two elder sisters, Sumaiyya and Muskaan, and younger brother, Adil. Discovering his passion for kabaddi during his 10th class, Riyaj was inspired by the seniors in his village who excelled in the sport. Determined to follow in their footsteps, he embarked on his kabaddi journey as a Right Raider, specializing in securing crucial bonus points. Under the guidance of his coaches Mauli Pawar, Kailas Jagdai, and Anil Jagdai at the Dhasdada Sport Academy in Ashti, Beed, Riyaj has honed his skills and developed a keen admiration for Aslam Inamdar, a renowned player in the Pro Kabaddi League, known for his exceptional speed and agility. Riyaj's dedication and talent have earned him recognition, including representing his school in the U-19 School State Championship in 2023, where his team secured the silver medal. One of his career highlights includes a thrilling semifinal match against the Nashik team in Yvamatal city in 2023, where Riyaj's team from Ashti emerged victorious by two points, ultimately reaching the final. Currently pursuing his education up to 12th standard, Riyaj aspires to compete in the Pro Kabaddi League and represent India on the international stage, fueled by his passion for the sport and determination to excel at the highest level.
