Lakhan Mohan Gawali, born on October 1, 2004, in Newasa, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, currently resides in Ahmednagar. Coming from a family of farmers, Lakhan is the son of Mohan Arjun Gawali and Ranjana Mohan Gawali. He has an elder brother, Shreeram, and an elder sister, Maheshwari. Lakhan's journey in kabaddi began in the 8th standard when he transitioned from wrestling, a sport popular in his village, to kabaddi. It was his cousin brother, Sanket, who introduced him to kabaddi, inspiring Lakhan to pursue the sport further. Initially, wrestling had been the preferred sport in the village, but as interest waned, Lakhan found his passion in kabaddi. As an all-rounder with proficiency in right blocking and left raiding, Lakhan demonstrates remarkable versatility on the kabaddi mat. His standout skill lies in his blocking technique, which he has honed under the guidance of coaches such as Sanket, Vijay Miskin, and Vinayak Bhutkar at GM Club, Ahmednagar. Surjit Singh, an esteemed Indian kabaddi player, serves as Lakhan's source of inspiration. Lakhan admires Singh's game and skills, which motivate him to strive for excellence in his own kabaddi journey. Representing Ahemdnagar in the State championship in 2023 marked a significant milestone for Lakhan, showcasing his growing prowess in the sport. Despite pursuing a BA degree, Lakhan remains dedicated to kabaddi and harbors aspirations of playing extensively in the sport while also securing a good job. His career highlight includes performing exceptionally well in the University trials held in Kolgaon in 2023, a moment that filled him with immense satisfaction and determination to continue excelling in kabaddi.
