Santhosh Velmurugan

Santhosh V was born on February 24, 2003, in Melmandai, Vilathikulam Sub-district, Thoothukudi District, Tamil Nadu. He comes from a family with a political background, as his father, VelMurugan, serves as a councilor for the BJP in ward 12 of their residence. His mother, Maareeaswari, is a dedicated homemaker, and he has a younger sister named Veni who doesn't play Kabaddi. Santhosh discovered his passion for Kabaddi at the age of 10 and quickly established himself as a versatile player, excelling as an All Rounder. His skills extend to both defensive and offensive positions, with expertise in chain tackling on defense and swift reaching on offense. He receives coaching from his cousin brother, Muniasaamy, an experienced player with Shankar Sports Club. Inspired by players like Naveen Express and Abinesh from Tamil Nadu, Santhosh admires their leadership qualities and cool demeanor on the mat. His career highlights include representing Palani Tuskers in the Yuva Series Monsoon Edition and winning District Level tournaments in both junior and senior categories. Besides Kabaddi, Santhosh enjoys playing cricket, although he describes himself as an average player in the sport. He is currently pursuing a diploma in Medical (Siddha) and aspires to become a professional Kabaddi player, with dreams of joining the Tamil Thalaivas in the Pro Kabaddi League. Santhosh takes pride in his Kabaddi achievements and eagerly looks forward to playing in recognized leagues, aiming to make a mark in the professional Kabaddi circuit.
