Sujit Patra was born on December 13, 2001, in the small town of Gunupur, Baliapal, in Baleshwar, Odisha. Growing up in a close-knit family, he is the youngest of four siblings. His father, Jaydeb Patra, is a humble rice farmer, while his mother, Damayanti, manages their home and takes care of their two cows. Sujit’s older siblings have each carved their own paths, with his sister, Arita, embracing homemaking and his brother, Arijit, pursuing a Bachelor of Physical Education. Sujit’s journey into the realm of Kabaddi began when he was just ten years old. Initially, he played football, but his seniors encouraged him to join their Kabaddi matches. The excitement of the game captivated him, and he soon found himself practicing fiercely at Shubanna Rekha High School. As an all-rounder, Sujit thrives in both raiding and defense, with his favorite skills being the Dubki and hand touch. His coach and uncle, Harihara Patra, alongside his father, have been instrumental in his development, always cheering him on. After showcasing his talent during the Senior National tournament in Ahmednagar for the Odisha team, Sujit dreams of one day making it to the Pro Kabaddi League. With ambition in his heart, he aims to excel and continue his journey in kabaddi, inspired by his favorite player, Pardeep Narwal.
