Gunimini Samarasimha Reddy, born on August 20, 2001, in the charming town of Kothapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, is carving a niche for himself in the world of kabaddi. Now residing in Vijayawada, Gunimini grew up in a supportive family. His father, Sreenu, is a dedicated farmer, while his mother, Bhoolakshmi, is the heart of their home. With a younger sister, Alekya, and a brother, Aditya, neither of whom has pursued the sport, Gunimini stands out as the family’s kabaddi star. His journey began at 16, inspired by local senior players who demonstrated the excitement of the sport. Under the mentorship of coach Y Srikanth at Sky Academy, Gunimini has developed his skills as a Left Raider. He enjoys practicing hand touches and has a knack for executing bonus plays. He admires the speed of his favorite player, Rahul Choudhary, aiming to emulate that agility on the mat. Despite not winning a medal at the Junior Nationals in 2021, his determination remains unwavering. Currently, he is in his third year of a Bachelor’s degree, with dreams of making it big in the Pro Kabaddi League. With passion and perseverance, Gunimini is set on a path to shine in the kabaddi arena.
