Kunal Bhoi was born on May 25, 2001, in Kalarahanga, Bhubaneswar, amidst the lush fields of Odisha. Growing up in a modest farming family, with his father Akshay cultivating rice and his mother Sanjulata managing their home, Kunal's journey into the world of kabaddi began at the age of 14. Encouraged by friends who saw his potential, he dove headfirst into the sport despite facing limitations in training facilities. The presence of senior players in his village became a source of motivation, driving Kunal to pursue his passion with vigor. As an all-rounder, Kunal has developed skills that shine in both defensive and offensive roles, specifically as a Left Cover Defender and a Left-Right Raider. His daily routine involves a dedicated 40-kilometer bicycle ride to practice at the Barabati Sports Complex in Cuttack, where he trains under the keen guidance of Madhav Rao. Kunal admires the legendary Anup Kumar, especially for his bonus skills, and has honed his own abilities, particularly his favorite move, the Lion Jump. Participating in events like the Yuva Kabaddi Series Monsoon Edition 2023 and the 47th Junior National Championship, Kunal aspires to make his mark in the Pro Kabaddi League and represent India on an international stage. With dreams fueled by hard work and dedication, he hopes to bring pride to his family and community through kabaddi.
