Selvakumar Murugan

Selvakumar, born on February 12, 2004, hails from the vibrant town of Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, where he currently resides. His father, Murugan, tills the land as a farmer, while his mother, Grena, tends to their home with love and care. In his family circle is his elder sister, Vijayashanthi, who shares his journey but not his passion for Kabaddi. Selvakumar's tryst with Kabaddi began at the tender age of 10, with him assuming the role of a dynamic Right Raider. Guiding him through his Kabaddi journey is Pravin, his mentor since childhood, whose teachings have shaped Selvakumar's skills. His training ground is none other than Karpagam University, where he refines his techniques with dedication. One of Selvakumar's idols in the Kabaddi arena is Masanamuthu, renowned for his exceptional skills and hailing from the same district as Selvakumar. Inspired by Masanamuthu's prowess, Selvakumar aspires to follow in his footsteps and make his mark in the Pro Kabaddi League. While Jump remains his favorite skill, symbolizing his agility and finesse on the court, Selvakumar also enjoys cricket as a recreational pursuit. In his academic pursuits, Selvakumar is currently in his third year, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Physics, laying the foundation for a promising future. Despite his achievements in various tournaments, including securing the second position in the Junior State Championship in Chennai in 2023, Selvakumar remains humble and focused on his aspirations. His ultimate dream is to shine in the Pro Kabaddi League and secure a job in the police force, serving both his passion and his community.
