Kannan Mani, born on March 28, 2001, hails from PalayaKariyappatti, Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu. His father, Mani, works as a lorry driver, and his mother, Vembu, is a dedicated homemaker. Kannan has an elder sister named Mohanapriya and an elder brother named RamKumar, who played Kabaddi for the Sengippatti club under DGS Brothers. Kannan's journey in Kabaddi began at the age of 13, and he quickly demonstrated his versatility as an All Rounder, specializing as both a Left Cover Defender and a Right Cover Defender. Under the guidance of his elder brother and Dharmaraj sir, a former player for BMC Club in their town, Kannan honed his skills at various practice locations, including Thanjavur New Players Club, BMS Club Thirumannadu, and Delta Baduvoor. Inspired by players like Abinesh from the Puneri Paltans, Kannan admires their success both on and off the mat. His career highlights include winning the Esha Kabaddi tournament with the Kariyampatti club in 2019, achieving 2nd runner-up in the CM Trophy with his college team in Trichy district, and representing the district team for DMS club, emerging as winners.
