R Gowrisankar

GowriSankar was born on July 18, 2004, in Salem, Tamil Nadu. He grew up in Salem, where he currently resides. His father, Raja, and his mother, Sundharavalli, have always been supportive of his kabaddi journey. He also has a younger brother named Pravin Kumar. Inspired by senior players in his school, GowriSankar started playing kabaddi at the age of 14. He quickly found his place as a Right Corner Defender, mastering skills like the chain tackle. Under the guidance of his coach Elavarasan, GowriSankar trains diligently at the Seven Lion Sports club in Chinnapampatti, Salem. His favorite player, Naveen Kumar, inspires him with his impressive jump skill. In addition to kabaddi, GowriSankar also enjoys playing volleyball. GowriSankar is currently pursuing his BA in Tamil (Second Year) as part of his college graduation degree. Despite his academic commitments, he has represented his state in both junior and senior levels, clinching the gold in 2022 and making appearances in 2023 and 2024. One of his career highlights includes being awarded the Player of the Match in the final game of a local tournament in 2024 while playing for Seven Lion Sports club. His dream is to make it big in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) and represent India on the international stage. GowriSankar's dedication, combined with his favorite skill, the ankle hold, makes him a formidable opponent on the kabaddi mat. With his aspirations set high, he continues to strive for excellence in his sport, fueled by the support of his family, coach, and teammates.
