Meet P. Sathya, the dynamic left raider representing the Palani Tuskers in the JSG Women's Yuva Kabaddi Series 2024. Born on May 23, 2006, in Ammapetti, Erode, Tamil Nadu, Sathya is a young and ambitious kabaddi player with an impressive journey in the world of sports. Hailing from a family of coolies, Sathya's passion for kabaddi took root in the 9th standard when Govisuresh, the PT teacher at her school, introduced the sport to the students. Eager to explore new avenues, Sathya embraced the opportunity to play kabaddi, marking the beginning of her remarkable journey. Sathya's family, including her father Pormanan and mother Ammasi, have been supportive of her sporting endeavors, despite the challenges they face as daily wage laborers. With a younger sister following in her footsteps, the love for kabaddi runs in the family. Under the guidance of her sole coach, Govisuresh, Sathya has honed her skills on the kabaddi mat. She attributes her success to the solid foundation laid by her coach, emphasizing his unwavering support and encouragement. Known for her exceptional jumping ability, Sathya has carved a niche for herself as a left raider. Her favorite skill, the jump, has become her signature move, allowing her to outmaneuver opponents and score crucial points for her team. Sathya has proudly represented her school, college, district, state, and even participated in the prestigious Khelo India event in 2023, clinching the silver medal. One of her career highlights includes a memorable match in Solapallam, where she played for AVS against the Tamil Nadu police, leading her team to victory in the absence of the main raider. Currently pursuing a B.Com degree in Chartered Accountancy, Sathya dreams of donning the Indian colors and representing her country on the international stage. Her aspiration reflects the spirit of a young athlete determined to reach new heights in the world of kabaddi. As Sathya continues to weave her success story, she stands as a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the transformative impact of sports in shaping young lives.
