Khaminder Chandel was born on January 15, 2003, in the picturesque village of Dabota, nestled in Himachal Pradesh. Growing up in a close-knit family, his father, Sri Balvinder Singh, served in the fire brigade, while his mother, Smt. Paramjeet Kaur, dedicated her time as a homemaker. Khaminder shares his life with an elder brother and a sister, both of whom have chosen different paths outside of kabaddi. Khaminder's journey into the sport began at the age of 12, inspired by his father's love for kabaddi and the legacy of acclaimed player Ajay Thakur, who hails from the same village. With guidance from his coach, Sri Jaiveer in Gandhinagar, Khaminder has honed his skills at the Sports Authority of India in Gandhinagar. He particularly revels in executing kicks, and his favorite move is the hand touch. Competing with the Himalayan Tahrs in various tournaments, Khaminder has claimed notable achievements, including a bronze medal at the Junior Nationals and a gold medal at Khelo India in 2022. As he pursues his undergraduate studies, Khaminder dreams of making a career in Himachal Police while continuing to elevate his kabaddi game. The fire in his heart for the sport is palpable, and he is determined to take his passion further.
