Jagannath Dalabehera was born on February 11, 2002, in the small village of Damasahi, nestled in the Nayagarh District of Odisha. Growing up in a farming family, his father, Murali, juggled roles as both a farmer and a driver, while his mother, Tophan, dedicated her time to managing the household. Jagannath isn’t alone in his journey; he has an older brother, Kalucharan, who also drives, and a younger sister, Subhandra, who is married and a homemaker. At just 12 years old, Jagannath discovered his passion for Kabaddi while watching a senior player in his village. He felt a spark, mimicking the moves he admired, and excitedly shared his newfound interest with his father, who wholeheartedly encouraged him to pursue the sport. Since then, he has diligently trained under coach Ajay Kumar Behera at the Baravati Kabaddi Complex in Cuttack, where he has honed his skills as an all-rounder, particularly excelling in jumps and the dubki move. Jagannath's journey has taken him to the Sub Junior National championships in 2017, where he proudly represented Odisha. With aspirations to join the Indian Army, he remains dedicated to excelling in Kabaddi and furthering his career. Always inspired by players like Pardeep Narwal, he hopes to make a significant impact on the field while balancing his passion for athletics, running, and volleyball.
