The big stage was set as four teams geared up to put on their best show yet. It was their moment to seize the day or leave the Velammal Bodhi Campus disappointed. With this pressure mounting, Vels University took on NA Academy in the first semi-final matchup. From the first whilst, for Vels University this game felt like a walk in the park. Satish Kannan did the honours of getting the first point and after that, there was no stopping. Led by Thirukumaran Murgan and Satish Kannan, Vels University came out with all guns blazing. They made no error as they secured 23 raids, 11 tackles & 6 all-out points. NA Academy struggled to get going and give Vels University a tough fight. As the final whistle blew, Vels University emerged victorious and beat NA Academy with a score of 42-24.
The second semi-final contest panned much differently. As Karpagam University took on PRIST University, the entire arena was on the edge of their seats throughout the match. From the toss, both teams were in a neck-to-neck battle and ensured not to slip up with the momentum they were building. But when the scores were tied at 25 points each, Karpagam University’s N Surya switched things up with his successful raid. Karpagam latched onto this boost and capitalised. As they almost ran away with the win, PRIST’s Stuwart Singh orchestrated a fight back but Karpagam’s Sakthivel Thangavelu stood as a barrier on both ends of the floor. Stuwart Singh needed support and more time on the clock to make his efforts count. Eventually, Karpagam University caused an upset as they beat the table toppers with a score of 36-33.
In the final match of this tournament, Vels University will take on Karpagam University at 10:00 am.
