Second Phase of the Booster Round At Velammal YKS Tamil Nadu Clubs 2024 takes off

Day 20 saw the second phase of the booster round commence as the top four teams of Pool B and the bottom four of Pool A faced each other. In the first game, PRIST University beat Jayachitra Club with a score of 34-28. PRIST’s tackling efforts, led by Gowtham Murugan, helped them gain the edge over Jayachitra Club. The losing side saw a spark of hope in Sanjay Babu’s 12 raid points effort, but it wasn’t enough for them.

The second game of the day saw an unexpected upset. Nellai Kings, who finished in the bottom half of Pool B, beat Durai Singam by a narrow margin of 5 points. Nellai Kings outdid Durai Singam with their dominating raids. This win helped Nellai Kings gain 2 booster points.

Following this was an intense match that ended in a tie. Alathankarai Club and Samy Academy finished the game with 30 points each. Samy Academy’s Mukesh Kannan and Kesavan Raja (9 points each) put their team in a winning position. However, Alathankarai Club’s Jegan D (12 points) and Sahaya Bergin’s final successful raid helped the team to tie the scores as the final whistle blew.

Contrary to the three previous matches, the final matchup of the day was rather one-sided. Chennai Sports beat KR Sports with a score of 59-34. In the earlier stages of the match, both teams were tied at 10-10. But from then on, there was no stopping Chennai Sports as Noushad Ali’s 14 raid points, B. Vijay’s 8 points, and the rest of the team pitching in gave them a comfortable lead. With his 14-point effort, K. Ganganath kept KR Sports' hopes alive, but it wasn’t enough. This complete team effort win also made Chennai Sports stand out as the team of the day.
